"Song Contest" Lyrics
While on tour with Bob Schneider in Summer 2002, we held a "song contest" in which a title was selected each night, and then next night, we'd play the song we had written by the title before choosing the next title. It was a great creative excercise, although I'll only share the "keepers" here...
Pencil Me In
© 2002 Troy Dillinger / Stinky Derringer Music (BMI)
Some girls take everything you've got
Some girls smoke a little too much pot
Some girls seem to have no heart
Some girls fill you in like art
With eyes of lead on a paper bed
Pencil Me In
Pencil me in with a deeper shade
Pencil me in like the best god made
Without sin and a silly grin
Pencil me in
A little bit of paint and pen and ink
You can create everything I think
You can give me anybody's face
You can make my head a happy place
You can scratch a divot on my chin
Pencil Me In
Pencil me in with a deeper heart
Pencil me in with a hit on the charts
Start from within & keep the lines fine & thin
Pencil me in
If you like you can erase
All the lines here in my face
I'm not eager to begin
Grab your finest quill and pencil me in

Candle Shop

She's a flower
Very ordinary
But as perfect as the wild ones get
She's the water
Deceptively shallow
I'm an island in a sea of regret
She is a mountain and I am a stream
I come from deep within her near the top
I am a bare bulb that lights her late night work
In the back room of her candle shop
She is a mirror
Covered with handprints
But a face somewhere in there sees
She is a forest
Seemingly empty
Her beauty is obscured by the trees
She is a mansion and I am the floor
Her servants quench my thirst with a mop
I am a box marked "Return To Sender"
In the back room of her candle shop
She is a freight train and I am the west
She's conquered me and she can't be stopped
I am a worthless piece of merchandise
In the back room of her candle shop

I Got To Love You
© 2002 Troy Dillinger / Stinky Derringer Music (BMI)
This life is so lonely
This life is so long
This life is so short
This life is a song
And we all ask questions
And we all tell lies
And we all want answers
We want no goodbyes
And we are all lovers
And we are all saints
And we are all dying
Except when we ain't
And we have forever
And we just have now
And we all have nothing
And we still ask how
This day is so narrow
And it fades into black
And this day is endless
And we never come back
But I got to love you
And I got to hate
And I got to fly
And I got to love you

When you want to cry
When you want to run away
I can't change the world
But baby I can stay
here with you a while
And tell you everything's okay
It is okay
'Coz in the dark times of the heart
You don't need to fall apart
Baby, you just need to know yourself
Yourself
Know yourself by knowing me
See the truth in all you see
Living is an art
if you do it from the heart
Know yourself by knowing truth
Trust your heart in all you do
And you'll always be just fine
Just fine
When you've had enough
And you've given up the fight
I can't change your life
But I can stay here
if it takes all night
I won't tell you it's going to be alright
'Coz it IS all right

Cry Like Matisse
© 2002 Troy Dillinger / Stinky Derringer Music (BMI)
Honesty
Please overtake me
Though I've stared so deep into your eyes before
Like an old man
Like a virgin
With the empty heart of a drunken whore
May I stand up and face you without a trace of ego
May my fears be stripped from me for evermore
May I stand in your light
All alone in the night
May I give up this fight
And quit thinking I'm right
May I cry like Matisse
And Try again
On my knees
I am forgiven
Now I know the truth of the deceased
Like a child
Like a monster
With the empty heart of a self-righteous priest
Oh I am cleansed
I am awakened
And I am shaky with each step I take
Like a smile
Like an Answer
I am so empty if you hold me I might break

I Like You
©2002 Troy Dillinger / Stinky Derringer Music (BMI)
I like kittens 'coz they're cute
You like cutoff shorts and cowboy boots
You like to do it in the pool
I like you because you're cool, cool, cool
I like your butt because it's cute
I bet it smells like bubblegum every time you toot
All the other boys just stand in line
I like you because you're fine, fine, fine
Whooo-eeee baby let's mess up the sheets
Whooo-eeee
I like candy 'coz it's sweet
I like that tuna 'coz it's the other pink meat
I like to sing when we're all done
I like you because you're fun, fun, fun
You like to do it in the butt
You like it best when I keep my mouth shut
You can't get enough of my lovin' stick
I like you when you're so sick, sick, sick

Another Song About Love
©2002 Troy Dillinger w/ Kevin Carroll / Stinky Derringer Music (BMI)
I ain't gonna sing another song about love
I ain't gonna sing another song about love
You can jam a ring on a finger
But that ain't good enough
Everyone wants a prisoner they can be proud of
And I ain't gonna sing another song about love
I ain't gonna try to catch you when you fall
I ain't gonna try to catch you when you fall
The net's all around you
But you've gotta make the call
I don't want you treating me like god--that's all
So I ain't gonna try to catch you when you fall
I don't want to try to fix you when you're weak
I don't want to try to fix you when you're weak
Words of true forgiveness
Are hard enough to speak
Words of war are wasted on the meek
That's why I ain't gonna to try to fix you when you're weak

Forgive Me
©2002 Troy Dillinger / Stinky Derringer Music (BMI)
I think I saw you last in Houston
I thought I glimpsed you in L.A.
But I wondered if it really was you
Exactly what the hell I'd say
You had a golden halo
And hands covered in glue
You walked with all the angels
I think they even looked up to you
Well what else can I do
That I may walk again free
I'm lost and without words
Please forgive me
Who was I to judge you?
I must have hated myself too
I spent so much time seeking meaning
That I quit seeking you
I've earned my faith in the master
I've earned my faith in the truth
In times that I'm alone I can't bear to hear . the telephone
'Coz I hope and I pray like hell that it ain't you

Surrender
©2001 Troy Dillinger / Stinky Derringer Music (BMI)
You can't get those things you want
By trying to make them stay
You can't buy your peace and joy
No matter what the commercials say
What if there was one Answer
To all of your questions?
Would you keep showing up to play this losing game?
Would you still feel all alone?
You can do so much better
Than the things for which you pray
You can have the entire universe
You can be willing to give it all away
And all these problems of which you speak
Don't need any of your descisions?
What if the truth which you claim to seek
Can't be defined by any religion?
Surrender
I've seen the world from the other side of truth
Like a row of houses with the curtains pulled
I will not flinch if you need to take your best shot
I am done being confused
If I could really change the world with one song;
Be beset with wealth and fame--
If I could say i never had any regrets;
Who says my life wouldn't be the same?

Just 'cuz it's slow don't mean it's makin' love
Just 'cuz it's candy don't make it sweet
Just 'cuz it's salty don't make it meat
Not every piece requires a dove
Just 'cuz it's slow don't mean it's makin' love
Just 'cuz it's juicy don't make it ripe
Just 'cuz it's round don't make it pipe
Just 'cuz it's elected don't make it the 'guv
Just 'cuz it's slow don't mean it's makin' love
Just 'cuz I smile don't mean i care
Just 'cuz I hang around don't mean I care
Not every blessing comes from above
Just 'cuz it's slow don't mean it's makin' love
Just 'cuz it's hard don't make it a gun
Just 'cuz it's soft don't mean that I'm done
Just 'cuz it's sore don't mean it needs a rub

To Love Again
©2000 Troy Dillinger / Stinky Derringer Music (BMI)
Eventually you've gotta pay the price
For treating people like furniture in paradise
There's no challenge in being hip, slick and cool
You can keep your heart empty and your bedroom full
But you can't keep those lonely nights
From burning a hole through your soul
It don't matter who's laying in that bed all night
You still wake up alone
From time to time you get a glimpse of truth
And a feeling is your only lasting proof
That the hard road is a bit too easy to choose
And the only true sin is a heart gone unused
But you can't keep
.
It hurts too much to love again
When you need it the most
It's the hardest to let in
It hurts too much to love again
So you settle for a lover
When you really need a friend
Now and then you let your guard slip down
When you've used them up and there's no one left around
But it's never too late to begin
Just open up that tender heart and let the love pour in
But you can't keep

Strong Arms
©2000 Troy Dillinger / Stinky Derringer Music (BMI)
Well I've got a gift And I've got a light
I've got a friend in you Wherever you are tonight
I can be loud and talk a mean game
But I can be lost in feelings without a name
I could be anywhere with god knows who
But baby I drop it all
thinking of you
Well I've got a heart and I've got a mind
And I seem to get stuck in between Most of the time
I've got strong arms and I've got a back
But they can only lift the blinds To see if you're back
I could be up to here with too much to do
But honey I drop it all
Thinking of you
I could move a mountain
I could walk through a wall
I could fly to the moon on these tattered wings
But I can't pick up the telephone And give you a call
I can be proud and you can be rude
But it ain't no need to round up the posse
And say we got screwed
'Coz hearts can be broken And fate can be cruel
And I can feel alone in this world
Thinking of you
I tried to move on but what could I do?
Maybe I'll sleep tonight
Thinking of you

What They Seem
©1999 Troy Dillinger / Stinky Derringer Music (BMI)
Dearest so-and-so;
It is with the utmost regret
That I must write this letter to inform you
I ain't quite over you yet
I've made repeated attempts to contact you on the matter
But the happier I get just seems
to make you that much sadder
I went back through all the numbers
to see if I could err in your favor
But the columns never seemed to add up twice
And things are seldom what they seem
Keeping score on paper
will just bury you in reams of sadness
So here I am - making a fool of myself again
I haven't felt like I know a soul
Since I don't know when
Baby, if I had a chance you know I'd drop all my demands
Because a heart only meets a heart
When we have empty hands
I went back through all the numbers
to see if I could err in your favor
But the columns never seemed to add up twice
things are seldom what they seem
Keeping score on paper
will just bury you in reams of sadness
I know this might sound silly
But it ain't about being right
And I'd rather crush on you
than the numbers Tonight

Maybe I'm Crazy
Words & Music-- Troy Dillinger (©Stinky Derringer Music -- BMI
There's been something missing
When I make my rounds
I see the faces I should love but I just turn them down
Something's missing in the way I speak
Like a flame behind a sheet
Something's missing in my feelings for her
Every time we meet
Don't try to tell me I'm doing this wrong
'Cause I'll Take all the heat
I need to know it's okay when I'm empty
But I'm still complete
Maybe I'm crazy, kinda dizzy in the head
Baby I'm lazy, can't seem to get out of bed
There's been something missing
When I hit my knees
I don't feel my heart move when the sun sets in the trees
And I can't tell my story
I just ain't got the feel
I've been walking kinda shaky
My heart's a lopsided wheel
Maybe there's nothing wrong with feeling like I'm lost
My day only lasts until my eyes close
Maybe I'm crazy, kinda dizzy in the head
Baby I'm lazy, can't seem to get out of bed

'Til I Get Old
Words & Music-- Troy Dillinger (©Stinky Derringer Music -- BMI)
You're the kind of woman that could make me your wife
I'd wash the babies and the dishes for the rest of my life
I'd stay away from my boys and out of the bars
'Cause baby, I'm sold
Until I get old
I'm not the kind of man that likes to be owned
I've taken many rides but I've never been thrown
But you've got me like a bird on a wire
'Cause baby, I'm sold
Until I get old
It's a funny feeling like I've lost my place
I lost it for love and its all over my face
And you've got me like a cat in a noose
'Cause baby, I'm sold
Until I get old

Lie Frozen
Words & Music-- Troy Dillinger (©Stinky Derringer Music -- BMI)
Touch me once again with your silver hand and kiss me while I close my eyes
I followed you around the world just to hear you tell me callous lies
Times like this feels I'm all alone and a bare bulb cuts through me like a knife
I could pour my heart out in this empty room until the misery takes away my life
Why even try to dream when the outcome's just the same?
Why even try to dream when my last words will be your name?
I used to think that I could drink like an ordinary man
But hold my life up to my face, it might as well be a gun in your hand
Times like this bleed my strength away, feels like flapping in the breeze
You couldn't change this mess with your sweet caress
And when I see you in the streets I freeze
Lie Frozen
Why even try to dream when the outcome's just the same?
Why even try to dream when my last words will be your name?
Look at me again with those kitten eyes, 'cause things will never be the same
I might not have thrown your picture out, but I'm using a cheaper frame
Driving around the world seems blue these days and each passing face tells me lies
And I may look a whole lot older now, but the life has returned to my eyes
Why even try to dream when the outcome's just the same?
And now I can't remember your name

For A While
Lyrics & Music -- Troy Dillinger ( ©1999 StinkyDerringer Music - BMI)
I've got a secret
That no one else knows
Except for you because it is You
I see the strings that make the flowers appear to grow
And I'm in love with The Illusion
I see our lives on a movie screen
I bought my ticket and I brought a razor
I'll flip the switch and you might think it obscene
It ain't nothing that you don't know
Let's be No One for awhile
Let's be No One for awhile
Let's all be No One for awhile
I've got a secret and everybody knows it
You're a shadow without a doubt

Waiting
Lyrics & Music -- Troy Dillinger ( ©1999 StinkyDerringer Music - BMI)
She came to me like an answered prayer
A fallen angel with twigs in her hair
Snapped awake from a mid-day's dream
From a love that ain't what the movies seem
Now I know it's been hard
Even landing on your feet
I've been waiting
I've been waiting for so long
For you to break free
The bottom dropped from the highest clouds
A silent prayer still spoken aloud
I was there when you called my name
You know too much now to be the same
Now I know it's been hard
Even landing on your feet
I've been waiting
I've been waiting for so long
For you to break free
Was it fate that brought you to me?
Day by day -- I guess we'll see
I've been waiting
I've been waiting for so long
For you to break free
She came to me like an answered prayer
A fallen angel with twigs in her hair
I was there when you called my name
You know too much now to be the same
Now I know it's been hard
Even landing on your feet
I've been waiting
I've been waiting for so long
For you to break free

3 Chord Song
Lyrics & Music -- Troy Dillinger ( ©1999 Stinky Derringer Music) BMI
Everybody's got a silly three chord song
I figured I should write one so I can belong
You may not like my point of view
But everybody's got a silly three chord song that they can do
Everybody's got a silly daytime job
I figured I should play guitar or find me a bank to rob
Hating work, I guess that's nothing new
Everybody's got a silly daytime job that they can do
I guess the bridge should be simple
One extra chord for effect
And everybody's got a crazy family
I wish those apes had dropped me off in a different tree
A bitter man is an easy thing to be
'Cause everybody's got a silly, crazy, fucked-up family
I guess the bridge should be simple
One extra chord for effect
Everybody's got a silly three chord song
This one's hard to dance to, but its fun to sing along
You may not like my point of view
But everybody's got a silly three chord song that they can do
Everybody's got a silly three chord song that they can do
Everybody's got a silly three chord song that they can do
Everybody's got a silly three chord song that they can do

Oh, Kristina
What are we gonna do?
We let a gulf flow between us, we lost that shiny and new
There ain't nothin' I wouldn't do for you
C'mon, lover
No need for lies and hate
Destiny ain't stupid and she ain't afraid to wait
And when things are good, ain't they great?
C'mon, sugar
There's no need to fight
Sometimes I could kill ya' girl, but I know things'll be allright
C'mon, let's try it again tonight
Oh, Kristina
What are we gonna do?
We let a gulf flow between us, we lost that shiny and new

This Wheel
Lyrics & Music -Troy Dillinger & J.D. Graham-- ( ©1999 Stinky Derringer Music - BMI)
Why not fix it if it's broken?
I'm just the man for the job
Nothing is best left unspoken
What happens when you turn this knob?
I ain't trying to hurt you
I'm just here living in a dream
I'm filled with the best of intentions
Dedication busting out my seams
I'm so lost
I can't find the feel
God, Please -- Take this wheel from me
Why are the best things all taken?
Where's my share of the stuff?
Why is it broken from shaking?
Can't you see it's not enough?
I've been to so many funerals
How much can this poor heart take?
I'm filled with the best of intentions
Dedication busting out my seams
I'm so lost
I can't find the feel
God, Please, -- Take this wheel from me
I'm out on my own, twisting off from reality
Feels like driving in circles
How much further could it be?
Man, let's get this thing moving
It's been at rest for way too long
My purpose seems to be proving
The way to get things done all wrong
I've been to so many funerals
How much can this poor heart take?
It's happening all around me
I can't seem to get a break
I'm so lost
I can't find the feel
God, Please, -- Take this wheel from me
How much further?

Johnny Speaks Spanish
Lyrics & Music - Miles Zuniga (©ASCAP)
All the boys in the barrio
All the cholos down to Mexico
Talk about a guy from San Antone
Don't mess with him, just leave him alone
He is tough, he is cold as ice
Black lowrider with the fuzzy dice
Velvet upholstry and a ten inch wheel
Colt 45 and nerves of steel
Don't mess with Johnny or you're on the run
Johnny speaks Spanish and he carries a gun
Johnny's in a knife fight in the park
Cold steel flashin in the dark
Don't go out if you are smart
Johnny's out for blood on the River Walk
Don't mess with Johnny or you're on the run
Johnny speaks Spanish and he carries a gun
Friday night a cat had the score
Johnny had a run in with him, Johnny had a row
Sittin' by the jukebox in a total hush
Five minutes later there was a pool of blood
Don't mess with Johnny or you're on the run
Johnny speaks Spanish and he carries a gun
All the boys in the barrio
All the cholos down to Mexico
Talk about a guy from San Antone
Don't mess with him, just leave him alone
Don't mess with Johnny or you're on the run
Johnny speaks Spanish and he carries a gun

Play Yer' Ass Off
Lyrics & Music -Troy Dillinger ( ©1999 Stinky Derringer Music - BMI)
Hey there legend, Rock 'N' Roll
All eyes are fixed on you
You've become quite unpredictable doing just what they want you to do
Well, how much do you have to give, and how high can you fly?
You cut your heart out every night so they can see a human die
Well everyone love a car crash
And the critics will rant and rave
But you can't play your ass off from the grave
Keith he was a legend, and Keith he was Rock 'N' Roll
He earned his spot in history and he washed away his soul
He drank the music from a bottle, as so many heroes do
Until the hero's crown starts to pull ya' down and the bottle drinks from you
Well everybody loves a train wreck
And the girls will smile and wave
But you can't play the solo from the grave
The heart it knows the answers
And it hears the music speak
You've been living so hard for so long it's like you're scared of being calledweak
But you swore it was a good time as you headed for another fall
Well, you earned you hour on VH-1
You're a lesson to us all
And thank you for the party
(and the music that you made)
But you can't play the encore from your grave
you can't play the encore from your grave...

Bitter Old Fool
Lyrics-Troy Dillinger; Music - J.D. Graham, Dillinger, S. Bruton -- (©1999 StinkyDerringer Music - BMI)
When your clarity strikes as you're drifting away
But you refuse to keep a pad by the bed
And you claim to seek divine inspiration
But you miss opportunities instead
When you scorn the diligent masses
For wasting time and money on school
Then you've negated the human experience
And become a bitter old fool
When you've chastised all others as sinners
Retained your rightful place as a saint
When you think you've earned a certain respect
But you know in your heart that you ain't
When you think you're such a damn grown up
That you can't splash around in the pool
Then you've wasted the wisdom of innocence
And become a bitter old fool
A bitter old fool's at least twenty years old
And he resists any evidence found
And he'll never be seen knocking dust from his ass
Because he'll never get up off the ground
If you think you're such a damn grown up
That you can't splash around in the pool
Then you've wasted the wisdom of innocence
And become a bitter old fool

Ev'ry Soul In Sight
Lyrics & Music -- Troy Dillinger ( ©1999 Stinky Derringer Music - BMI)
Here lie the ashes of my old friend
Thought he could beat the game again
He was wrong
I am not impressed
Saw his face in a light
On each and every cheap motorbike
I am not impressed
It could take a night
It could take more than one life
Dragging down every soul in sight with no promise of hope
So you wanna be a star, boy?
You scare the children in the streets
I am not impressed
You wanna pile of money and fame?
That won't buy you nothing
I am not impressed
You had to take your own life
Couldn't wait just one night
Dragging down every soul in sight with no promise of hope
I can see your face through the flames
You're running away from the love to the pain
Man, we'll never see you again
Everything was gonna be alright
It was just a fucking decision
But any way you choose
You know you're not alone
I walked you to the gates of faith
But you stood there longing
I am not impressed
You had to take your own life
You couldn't wait just one night
Sucking down every soul in sight with no promise of hope
I can see your face through the flames
You're running away from the love to the pain
Man, we'll never see you again
Things were gonna be alright
You take one life
You could have taken one night
You just give up everything in sight
If you wanna win

Crazy 'bout Tori naughty little Tori
I don't care about those other jerks I start to sweat when I watch you work
Crazy 'bout Tori naughty little Tori
I could be nasty, you could be wet for me
You don't love me and I don't love you--except for all the wicked things that you do
Crazy 'bout Tori Naughty little Tori
I don't care if I have a heart attack
'Cause you do some mighty work when you're on your back
Crazy 'bout Tori naughty little Tori
I could be nasty, you could be wet for me

After the Rain
Words-- T. Dillinger Music--T. Dillinger/Kevin Carroll (©Stinky Derringer Music/BMI)
Well I just can't seem to focus on the simple things in life
The tension in the air might choke us but I think we'll be allright
I could find a hundred reasons to turn and walk away
You keep accusing me of treason and begging me to stay
I just keep hoping my heart will stay open and give love a chance some day
The hardest part of love and life is a little pain and a little strife
Oh well, I'll pay the price
I'll stand up to all the pain 'cause the rainbows won't come 'til after the rain
Well my heart it beats like thunder and my tears they pour like rain
The assumption I'm living under is that I'm learning from the pain
We could call each other liars and mutter our goodbyes
Leave our passion burning fires but we'd both be living lies
I just keep hoping our hearts will stay open and give love a chance some day
The hardest part of love and life is a little pain and a little strife
Oh well, I'll pay the price
I'll stand up to all the pain 'cause the rainbows won't come 'til after the rain
The hardest part of love and life is a little pain and a little strife
Oh well, I'll guess I'll pay and pay and pay
I'll stand up to all the pain 'cause the rainbows won't come 'til after the rain

Mad About You
Words & Music-- Troy Dillinger (©Stinky Derringer Music/BMI)
The problem with me is the problem with you
I can't understand all the things that you do
Sometimes I can't stand to breathe the same air
It's coming from you and it's thick everywhere
The problem is plain, near to your heart
But things don't change until you start
I'm mad about you
The problem in the world is not enough truth
Open up your heart and let it feel the proof
Sometimes I can't stand to breathe the same air
It's coming from downtown and it's thick everywhere
The problem is plain and usually clear
But things don't change until you get off your rear
I'm mad about you
That's how I feel Mad about you
Everything must change but I know I'm always willing
To rearrange--but that don't make two...
And one alone is nothing
The problem in the world is the problem in your heart
You say you'll change but I never see you start
Sometimes I can't stand to breathe the same air
You're breathing out fear and it's thick everywhere
The problem is plain and near to your heart
But your pain will remain 'til your courage will start
I'm mad about you
That's how I feel Mad about you

Alone Again
Words & Music -- T. Dillinger/Erik Hubner (Stinky Derringer Music)
It's a typical Sunday, another sunny day
The sun calls me outside but the couch convinces me to stay
Telephone keeps ringing but I don't want no calls
Company might be nice to tear me off of the walls
I'm alone again Well I'd give a million dollars (if I had it) for a friend
He always got it his way, cheating all the cards on my play
He was running around with the queen left me playing solitaire with no king
He's a solid sender a two bit befriender sneakier than a snake
I turn around and he's gone again --until then
I'm alone again Yeah I'd give a million dollars (if I had it) for a friend
Alone again.....
Well I'd give a million dollars if I had it
That could take awhile but I won't sweat it
See ya, my friend

Sticks and Stones
Words -- T. Dillinger/Mark Highfill (©Stinky Derringer Music/BMI)
Watching a sunset from a mountain top
Mother ain't no punisher but the lessons still get taught
Mother Superior so recklessly we play
Man's got his machinery, mother has her sway
Don't you know that Mother's watching and she's not in perfect health?
Mother wouldn't hurt nobody except to save herself
Watching our rolling hills turn into garbage dumps
We'd gladly pay a sparkling bay for a turn at the gas pumps
Our legacy is refuse we've strewn along the way
But sticks and stones outlast these bones and men with feet of clay
Don't you know that Mother's watching and she's not in perfect health?
Mother wouldn't hurt nobody except to save herself
Watching a country club, a palace built by greed
Mother ain't into real estate and she never wrote a deed
This land was given freely without a single fence
We paid a million buffalo for a herd of Mercedes Benz
Don't you know that Mother's watching and she's not in perfect health?
Mother wouldn't hurt nobody except to save herself
Mother wouldn't hurt nobody --but she can't stop you from hurting yourself

Nothing
Words-- T. Dillinger Music --Dillinger/K. Carroll (©Stinky Derringer Music/BMI)
Pinch me once again to see if I'm listening
Sometimes I lose my grip
Oh, for a day with my head above the water
To see a friendly face on the shore
Kiss me once again to see if I'm breathing
Sometimes I lose control
Oh, for a day with spare change in my pocket
To fly you to the moon
I'm out into nothing
Drifting towards the sun
Race already run
I'm out into nothing
Kick me once again to see if I'm living
Sometimes I lose my strength
Oh, for a day with no hands around my throat
To strangle out my faith
I'm out into nothing
Drifting towards the sun
Race already run
I'm out into nothing

Tomorrow
Words-- T. Dillinger Music-- Dillinger/K. Carroll (Stinky Derringer Music)
If I pledged my heart for a million years would the thought pass you by?
And if I paid you no attention at all would it bring a tear to your eye?
To see you, to feel you, to lose myself in your embrace
To spend my life with you would end my chase
Don't let the tears bring you down
And when the cold wind blows through the cavern of my heart
And I don't deserve these dreams
To look with awe into the comfort of your eyes
Would act as mending to my seams
To see you, to feel you, to lose myself in your embrace
To spend my life with you would end my chase
Don't let the tears bring you down
Don't let your goodness shake, don't let your sweet heart break
Soon tomorrow will come....

I Just Can't Fall
Words & Music-- Kevin Carroll (©suresignofsomething Publishing --BMI/adm. Bug Music)
I just can't fall quite like I used to do
I just can't fall down like a fool
I just can't fall behind, to pieces or in line
I just can't fall for you this time
If I can't hold my own how can I hold you to a promise so easy to undo?
Lines across a mirror, creases in my brow won't redeem the wasted years
Like I wish they could somehow
I just can't fall quite like I used to do
I just can't fall down like a fool
I just can't fall behind, to pieces or in line
I just can't fall for you this time
How long is this drop how deep is this well?
When you're standing at the top there's only one way you can tell
Where the bottom line meets the bitter end
And that's the place that I'm looking for my friends
I just can't fall quite like I used to do
I just can't fall down like a fool
I just can't fall behind, to pieces or in line
I just can't fall for you this time

I Must Be Dreaming
Words & Music-- Troy Dillinger (©Stinky Derringer Music/BMI)
She woke me up in the morning haze and I said to myself
I must be dreaming
And though this old heart's seen it's better days I can't tell myself
I must be dreaming
I can't say I deserve this now, I could kill myself and I know just how
I got better things to do today so I say to myself
I must be dreaming
My best friends knock at my door and I say to myself
I must be dreaming
They come in peace unlike before and I can't tell myself
I must be dreaming
I quit living life like a whore and I can't fool myself
I must be dreaming
I'm given peace and so much more and I can't tell myself
I must be dreaming
I can't say I deserve this now, I could kill myself and I know just how
I got better things to do today so I say to myself
I must be dreaming
must be dreaming.....

Comin' To Ya'
Words & Music-- Troy Dillinger (Stinky Derringer Music)
For all my friends that have removed these tight shoes we walk in-- Hoka Hey & see ya' soon....
Sometimes I get so tired and I look up to the sky
I wouldn't trade one second--and today is a good day to die
I've taken all my chances and I've reached the other side
My soul has done strange dances but today is a good day to die
Yeah it's been such a long, long time
Yeah it's been such a long, long life
Comin' to ya', comin' to my grave
My love's a flower in your life, but its time I said goodbye
It's time I reached the rainbow's end--and today is a good day to die
Well it's been such a long, long life
Yeah it's been such a long, long time
Comin' to ya', comin' to my grave

Just Say Goodbye
Words & Music-- Troy Dillinger (©Stinky Derringer Music--BMI)
When you're leaving late in the evening don't say you love me, just say goodbye
Don't play lonely 'cause I'm not the only one you've loved in some time
I can't stay if we've got to play like we're making love with love on our minds
Don't play lonely 'cause I'm not the only one you've loved in some time
It's a shame our love is a game don't say you love me, just say goodbye
I want to say "would you please just go away???"
But I can't see clearly with these tears in my eyes
Your eyes are showing where you've been going
Don't say you love me, just say goodbye
Now I know that you've got to go
You're going to have to leave, I'm not here for you to decieve
I've done my time, your lying is a crime
I give you all I've got Honey, you don't get a second shot
When you're leaving late in the evening, just say goodbye.....

So Jaded
Words & Music-- Troy Dillinger (©Stinky Derringer Music/BMI)
You cornered me by the bottom stair, another moment of pain we share
But that's alright, it doesn't matter to me
I've been around for a million years, I paint a smile and I cry no tears
But that's alright, it doesn't matter to me
I'm so jaded, so jaded It doesn't matter to me
So jaded, so jaded rose colored insincerity...
I thought I had to bound the highest peak but they ignore me every time I speak
And that's alright, it doesn't matter to me
I deserve to jam the stadium walls I'm above playing these empty halls
And that's alright, it doesn't matter to me
I'm so jaded, so jaded It doesn't matter to me
So jaded, so jaded rose colored insincerity...
Why won't you give me a try?
I watched the chances pass me by the pity bleeds my spirit dry
But that's alright, it doesn't matter to me
I sought the comfort of an opium den, guess I was Born To Lose again
That's alright, it doesn't matter to me
I'm so jaded, so jaded It doesn't matter to me
So jaded, so jaded rose colored insincerity..
